Wilkie resigned from his intelligence role, in the run up to Iraq war in 2003 as he encountered ethical conflict between his respect for the truth and his job. There was no valid evidence supporting pre-war claims of “weapons of mass destruction” and he advised the government, although they chose to ignore this. Wilkie had conviction and was true to his ethics.

Here’s hoping there are more honest and ethical politicians/independents entering our government.
