No, history is not bunk, and yes, we should look back and learn from the past. But the pessimist and cynic in me dares to say this...if history has taught us anything, its that we never learn from it. Perhaps that is why our Church is experiencing its lowest point since 1969...vraiment l'hisroire se rèpéte...

I'm quite amazed that there are still grumblings regarding the crypt. I would've thought they would have died down once it was built and Father Mina was finally given the dignity he deserves.
I have this to say regarding the issue...maybe I'm a little too opinionated, but anyway...
Why shouldn't Father Mina repose in dignity behind the altar of the parish he spent his final years of service?
Have we so much little respect for the man, to let his remains be buried in a common cemetery, all but forgotten in a dusty grave, visited and remembered by no one but his children?
It is not a monument to a saint!! And even if some see it as such, big deal!!...the man was, is a saint!! A priest's Priest!! I'm sure many of you who remember him would agree with me.
We owe it to him to rest him in respect. We perhaps even owe it to his family in appreciation of such a great man!!

Anyway, that's enough from me before I get reprimanded for my comments on here..

Abouna....well said!

I have often thought to myself: "May God grant us all even a tenth of his diligence and his integrity. An ounce of his common sense wouldn’t go astray either!"

I guess for those of us who have experienced him during our lifetime, this comment means quite a lot. We have been very blessed to have experienced him during our lifetime... we have learnt a lot from him.

Dear father and allll....i believe you tackled a lot of important points in this topic and i believe a lot of concerns have been shared as usual with our great Australian Coptic Community ...thanks father for your usual honesty and openness, it is really constructive and trustful way of positive relationship which must be there all the time between the good Shepard and own flock ........ it is really the focusing on the basics of christian life as you referred to it as the most important positive strategy ... believe we are learning everyday in our life as we do mistakes but the worst thing to continue in our mistakes .. i learned in life that pride is the enemy of any conflict resolution ...i learned too that forgiveness is the backbone of christian counseling ...i learned too that logic and love defeats anger , and i believe all of us are still learning every day from our wonderful councilor our lord and God Jesus Christ ....father Mina Nematalla "God bless his soul " and all the early Coptes settlers in this part of the world and Dr Makeen "God bless his soul "who donated that bid piece of land where our churches built up and our school and others and others and our great history will never end did a great job in the foundation of our church in this part of the world..... i personally had seen , shared and experienced most of that struggle over the years ...i believe all of us now must appreciate that and enjoy but in the same token we have to look after all those great things ....no body helped from the mother church ,as the rest of the Coptes communities in other migration countries we worked hard and did and eventually we got there ..we thank God for his great support over the years in our ups and downs ...back to father Mina,s crypt , forgive me father i believe it is a shrine and not a crypt ??? sometimes i wonder we already got a historic site in our new church , so why all that !!! any how i did not question that before and i am not questioning it now because it is an issue which i believe was approved by our church in Australia in consultation with our Coptic community and specifically the relevant church community ....At the end of the day "God is the checker of hearts and minds "....my real concern is about our kids as a new generation , they do not understand that shrine there for historic reason or sainthood ???!! i believe our common understanding that all shrines on our churches are for sainthood ...anyhow the consequences of that that our kids as the bible refer to them as least had been led astray , confused and misled !!?? it is a fact they treat that shrine as for one of those of our saints ?? i believe we have to stop and look back and do something ..... somebody will be accountable in front of God at the end of the day .....forgive me father we have to hit the sin and not the sinner , so we have to live as Christians and act as Christians ......we need to get the trust of our community back by our christian acts and the language of the king ??????!!!!!...i
